The Siberian airport, which handled 1.6 million passengers between January and November last year and around 16,800 tonnes of airfreight, said it has plans to increase its passenger and cargo traffic further and is “especially interested in cooperating” with more international airlines.
At the moment, the gateway operates regular flights served by more than 30 Russian and overseas carriers which connect Krasnoyarsk with 66 destinations in Russia, the Asia Pacific region and in Europe.
As part of the contract, which began in December 2011 and is expected to last for two years, Lufthansa Consulting will conduct a market analysis to identify currently unserved market potential for Krasnoyarsk and identify target routes and airlines.
Lufthansa Consulting said it would then approach the airlines that have the potential to serve Yemelyanovo International Airport and will actively support the gateway in negotiations with the airlines.
