The Antonov 12 aircraft, chartered by the company Flytrans – which specialises in the transport of fragile and temperature-sensitive goods – will carry the expensive piece of medical equipment between the two SNC-Lavalin-owned airports to the Mayotte Health Centre.
Located 150 km east of Paris, Vatry Airport is an intermodal cargo facility open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Gilles Darriau, general manager of the gateway, said: “The linkage spawned by the SNC-Lavalin Airports network makes it possible to conduct operations of this nature in a far more timely manner.”
SNC-Lavalin Airports took charge of Mayotte’s Dzaoudzi Pamandzi International in April 2010 and has committed to invest €45 million to enhance the existing airport infrastructure and to construct a new terminal.
Daniel Lefebvre, manager of Mayotte Airport, said: “We are pleased to welcome this shipment from a specialised air cargo facility belonging to the same group as our airport, not to mention that the all cargo aircraft in question will be carrying MRI equipment certain to enhance island health care considerably.”
