Germanwings to expand presence in the UK

Germanwings is to operate services from London Heathrow to Stuttgart and a new route from Stuttgart to Manchester next year as parent company Lufthansa shuffles its UK schedules.

From February 2012, the low-cost carrier (LCC) will begin operating five services a week to Manchester from Stuttagart operating with an A319.

 

The route will compliment its existing service to Manchester from Colongne-Bonn which was launched in October 2009.

 

From July 2012, Germanwings will operate 21 flights a week from London Heathrow to Stuttgart, a service currently offered by Lufthansa subsidrary Contact Air.

 

The announcement is part of a reshuffle of Lufthansa schedules in the UK.
