An air services agreement was established between the two governments in June this year to boost trade and tourism between the nations.
The route expands Mihin’s network to nine destinations. As a codeshare partner on the route, SriLankan now has 65 destinations in 35 countries.
The airlines’ chairman, Nishantha Wickremasinghe, said: “This is an inspiring move that will connect Sri Lanka not only to the islands of Seychelles but to the vast African continent.”
CEO, Kapila Chandrasena, added: “Seychelles and Sri Lanka have agreed to a wide-ranging commercial agreement that will give passengers boarding in Seychelles convenient access to new points in South Asia and the Far East, and passengers boarding in Colombo easy access to Air Seychelles’ regional network in the Indian Ocean and Africa.”
Mihin Lanka’s flights will operate on Wednesday and Saturday. The service will depart CMB at 1.30pm, arriving in SEZ at 4.10pm. The return flight will depart at 5.10pm and arrive in Colombo at 11.00pm.
